Qi-Gong

What is Qi-Gong?.....

Qi-Gong (pronounced chee kung) is the practice or art of chi (life force energy) manipulation. Though there are many categories of Qi-Gong religious, scholar, martial and medical. The practice taught at KUNG FU U.S.A is medical. The Qi-Gong practitioner begins by cultivating his or her chi using breathing and visualization techniques to become aware of the channels or paths in which chi flows. Once this level is obtained the practitioner begins to use his or her skills to move the chi within the body, i.e. leading or linking the chi to the hand or foot for striking. After many years of practice, the higher levels of shooting the chi are taught. One example would be to unlock the meridians in a patient's body, pull out the negative or bad chi, and replace it with positive or good chi. This is considered a very high level of Qi-Gong practice and not to be attempted with out proper tutelage or the teachings from a certified teacher or Master. The history of Qi-Gong dates back before the Shang dynasty (1766-1154 B.C) though writings about Qi-gong at this time are now extremely scarce, we do have knowledge of Qi-Gong practice from the Han dynasty (c.-58 A.D) not until recently did our society start to realize the many benefits of this practice. However much of the training has been kept secret for thousands of years for the many reasons; every Qi-Gong style considered its theories precious treasures which could not be purchased with money, health or power. Because the knowledge was so valuable many masters did not wish to share it. Also with the techniques so difficult to understand the practice can be quite dangerous if incorrectly performed. And many masters believed that the more you kept it a mystery the more valuable and precious it would become. In china this art is only taught to blood relations or students of many years. At KUNG FU U.S.A we teach to anyone who wishes to learn!
